Lisa Ramthun is a seasoned healthcare executive, a registered nurse, and an expert in driving reliability within high-consequence industries through system design, human behavior, and enterprise risk management strategies. Her extensive background in risk management principles has made her a respected figure in the field.
Currently, Lisa serves as the Enterprise Vice President of Risk & Claims Management at Jefferson. In this role, she oversees the clinical risk and claims management programs. Before joining Jefferson in 2021, Lisa spent four years as an independent consultant and also worked with AEIX RRG, focusing on various healthcare risk management and patient safety topics. Her impressive career also includes 12 years at St. Joseph Health, where she held the position of system vice president of risk management. In that capacity, Lisa had enterprise-wide responsibility for risk management, patient safety, captive and claims management, clinical data analytics, clinical research, infection prevention, and regulatory readiness programs.
Lisa’s journey began as an emergency nurse and mobile intensive care nurse. She spent a decade working in the pre-hospital care environment, where she designed and led critical care nurse transport programs and safety and risk management initiatives for the southeastern and southwestern regions of American Medical Response.
Her educational background includes both a Bachelor of Science (BS) and a Master of Science (MS) in nursing. Lisa is a certified professional in healthcare risk management and is recognized as a Distinguished Fellow by the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management. She frequently shares her expertise as a speaker and contributing author on risk management topics. Additionally, Insurance Business America has nationally recognized Lisa as a leading risk manager, including being named one of their top 100 risk managers in 2017.
Lisa’s commitment to the field extends beyond her professional roles. She serves as faculty for ASHRM (American Society for Healthcare Risk Management) and has been a past board member of the organization. Her dedication to healthcare risk management is evident through her volunteer work and elected positions.
