Dilru Amareskera, MD

Dr. Amarasekera completed her undergraduate education at the Pennsylvania State University as part of a combined, accelerated BS/MD program. She received her medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, graduating magna cum laude. During her time at Jefferson, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and served as Vice President. Dr. Amarasekera completed an internship at Pennsylvania Hospital followed by an ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital. At Wills Eye she was selected as Co-Chief Resident in her final year of training. During residency she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for delivering compassionate care and awarded the Luo Family Distinguished Service Award for her leadership and excellence in patient care. Following residency, she completed a glaucoma fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital and was awarded the Rick Bay Excellence in Eyecare Education Scholarship.

Dr. Amarasekera has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Ophthalmology and JAMA Ophthalmology, and has presented her research at several national conferences. She has been honored with the Shipman Resident Research Award as well as awards from both the Women in Ophthalmology and American Academy of Ophthalmology national conferences for her research work.

Clare Bello, Esq.

Clare M. Bello, Esquire, Enterprise Director of Claims & Insurance, Jefferson Health.  Ms. Bello leads the claims program across the Jefferson enterprise.  Before joining Jefferson, Ms. Bello was the Senior Vice President of CCMSI and Division Leader of VCM.

Ms. Bello founded VCM in 2002 and for the first 12 years led VCM as its CEO.  She took VCM from a regional organization to a national company, setting standards in the healthcare claims management industry.

Ms. Bello has lectured in national and international programs for the healthcare medical malpractice market. She has been published for her innovative approaches to claims management and is active in organizations designed to develop and promote best practices for managing professional liability claims and litigation.

Ms. Bello holds a law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law. She managed an active professional liability defense and regulatory law practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for over a decade before starting VCM.

Donna Kramer is a partner with the Eckert Seamans law firm in Philadelphia. Her cases involve complex medical fact patterns, minor to catastrophic injuries, and substantial financial exposure. She represents clients at trial, mediation, and arbitration, and has successfully defended clients against claims involving alleged surgical negligence and misdiagnosis/failure to diagnose, among others. In addition, she provides risk management guidance and consultation services to chief executive officers, chief medical officers, and general counsel.

Prior to joining private practice, Kramer served as a law clerk for the Honorable Francine Lubow of the Queens County Family Court.

Active in the profession and the community, Kramer is a Professor at the Villanova University M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing, teaching “Ethical and Legal Health Care Issues,” a course in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. She also serves as a Board Member and Chair of the Religious School Committee at Beth David Reform Congregation in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania.

Kramer joined Eckert Seamans from Post & Schell, P.C. and is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New York. She earned her J.D. from the St. John’s University School of Law (1999), where she served as Notes and Comments Editor of the St. John’s Journal of Legal Commentary. She earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University (1996).

Lisa Ramthun, MSN, RN, CPHRM, DFASHRM, CPHQ

Lisa Ramthun is a seasoned healthcare executive, a registered nurse, and an expert in driving reliability within high-consequence industries through system design, human behavior, and enterprise risk management strategies. Her extensive background in risk management principles has made her a respected figure in the field.

Currently, Lisa serves as the Enterprise Vice President of Risk & Claims Management at Jefferson. In this role, she oversees the clinical risk and claims management programs. Before joining Jefferson in 2021, Lisa spent four years as an independent consultant and also worked with AEIX RRG, focusing on various healthcare risk management and patient safety topics. Her impressive career also includes 12 years at St. Joseph Health, where she held the position of system vice president of risk management. In that capacity, Lisa had enterprise-wide responsibility for risk management, patient safety, captive and claims management, clinical data analytics, clinical research, infection prevention, and regulatory readiness programs.

Lisa’s journey began as an emergency nurse and mobile intensive care nurse. She spent a decade working in the pre-hospital care environment, where she designed and led critical care nurse transport programs and safety and risk management initiatives for the southeastern and southwestern regions of American Medical Response.

Her educational background includes both a Bachelor of Science (BS) and a Master of Science (MS) in nursing. Lisa is a certified professional in healthcare risk management and is recognized as a Distinguished Fellow by the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management. She frequently shares her expertise as a speaker and contributing author on risk management topics. Additionally, Insurance Business America has nationally recognized Lisa as a leading risk manager, including being named one of their top 100 risk managers in 2017.

Lisa’s commitment to the field extends beyond her professional roles. She serves as faculty for ASHRM (American Society for Healthcare Risk Management) and has been a past board member of the organization. Her dedication to healthcare risk management is evident through her volunteer work and elected positions.
